Iowa Track Notes

As I will be in class all this week, I wanted to get some notes out to you all today surrounding our next event at Iowa Speedway.  If you need to contact me in the next week or so, please call me at (608) 386-6557.  If Bob Yonkee or Steve Hillary can help you, please contact them directly.

We are attempting to get an open practice session or two on Friday.  Iowa has not confirmed if we can get track time, or for how long, look for a follow up email early this week if that becomes available.

Pits and registration opens at 7:30 AM.  First practice session is at 11 AM.

Mandatory driver’s meeting at 12:30 PM.  Please note change in time!

The weight rule for Iowa and Milwaukee Mile races for 2008 are the weights established at 2007 Milwaukee which proved to be extremely competitive.  For clarification, these were 2850 lbs with 56% max left side for the coil over trucks with crate engines.  3000lbs for the Mid-Am Style truck, 3000-3050 lbs for USST and 3100 lbs for the I-70 Trucks.  This will maintain the level of competition achieved in 2007 on the big tracks.    If you have any questions please contact Steve Hillary at 815-871-2658.

This race will be $700.00 to win, $300.00 for second and $200.00 for 3rd plus the $200/$300 starting monies.

HANS or Hutchens head and neck restraint required.

Upon getting to the track, please display all safety equipment on the rear deck lid of your truck for inspection.  Helmets, gloves, and Hans or Hutchens should be made available.  Please remove radiator caps, all vehicles will be checked for anti-freeze.  All equipment and trucks must be inspected prior to your truck taking the track.  If an official has not inspected your truck and/or approved for competition, please find a USST official.

This is a 50 lap event, broken down into two 25 lap segments.  Only the winner after lap 50 goes to Victory lane.  The second segment will start double file, with lapped trucks to the inside.  One lucky dog will be awarded during the break.

You must race and complete the event on the same tires you qualify with.  Tires will be marked prior to qualifying.  If you have tire issues, please see a USST official for approval to change a tire.  If you change a tire between qualifying and the start of the event, you will start dead last on the starting grid.  If you change a tire during the break, you will start at the tail end of the longest line.

As you all know, Iowa Speedway is a new facility, and very state of the art.  We are fortunate to return to this event after one of our driver’s dumped oil in a garbage barrel, and created a huge mess.  We can not afford to have this happen at this track or any other track we visit.  USST management has the utmost respect for it’s drivers and teams, and expect that you all return to the favor to the staff and to the facilities we are allowed to compete at.  LOOK PROFESSIONAL + ACT PROFESSIONAL = GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR FUN!

Milwaukee Mile has given us 12 Indy Pole Tickets on 5/31, 12 Indy Race Day and Hootors Pro Cup Tickets on 6/1 and 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck tickets on 6/20.  100% of the proceeds from these tickets goes to the Milwaukee Mile driver’s purse.  WE NEED TO SELL THESE TICKETS!  Please contact Nicole Dannenberg if you have individuals interested in purchasing these.

USST management is looking forward to this great event, and hope to use this as a springboard to a fantastic 2008 season.  Thank you for your continued support of USST racing, and look forward to seeing you all in Newton next weekend.

Thanks
Travis Leis
