United States Super Trucks History

Trucks are an asphalt oval and road course racing series one step below NASCAR Craftsman Trucks. The series travels in the central United States, primarily in Wisconsin and Iowa in 2006, but seeking expansion in 2007. The trucks produce about 450 horsepower from their performance V-8 racing engines. Top speeds have reached 140 mph at the Milwaukee Mile and Road America. They are not street legal.

The Midwest Super Truck Series also engages in Super Truck test sessions, corporate  outings, and rental programs for the trucks.

Back in 1997 Madison International Speedway owners Kevin and Jerry Fillner had a vision to add truck racing to the weekly program at their half-mile speedway located  near Oregon, Wisconsin. Soon the Midwest Truck Series was born and for nine consecutive seasons was part of the weekly racing action at Wisconsin's Fastest Half-Mile.

Running as one of two truck series in Wisconsin along with the Mid American Super Truck Series, the Midwest Truck Series quickly filled fields with experienced drivers. For eight seasons the two series ran independently of one another, leaving fields thin. Finally, the two series came together in the 2005 when a uniform set of rules was agreed upon. Today shows draw close to 20 trucks every event and that number will only continue to grow.

The 1999 champion, Charlie Cottam, is recognized as the most winning Midwest Truck  Series driver of all time with 35 career feature victories.NASCAR Busch Series competitor Todd Kluever, NASCAR Elite Series competitor Ryan Hanson, and ASA Late Model competitor Dale Nottestad have all also recorded wins in the truck series. 2002 Mid-American Super Truck Series champion Jeff Steenbergen is another top competitor on the circuit, adding to the impressive roster of racing veterans seen at each show.

In 2006, the Midwest Trucks are looking to make a statement. Two truck series are combining to make one in hopes of taking the truck series to an all new level. With new leadership, the Midwest Super Truck Series will break away from its roots. The series is going traveling and will hit tracks in 4 states throughout the Midwest, including Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota. Get on board today, because the ride has just begun!
